Depending on the size of your house and construction, having a couple of walls between you and the Wi-Fi router can cause a huge drop in performance. Newer home Wi-Fi Mesh Network devices can go a long way towards solving this. This allows you to have access points at various spots in your home to maximize the strength of your network based on your needs.
Data drops FTW.
I'd like to put in a Ubiquiti system. One big problem is that what may potentially be our master bedroom when we renovate it is an addition on the far end of the house from our router. Since it's an addition, there's a brick wall between it and the rest of the house. Terrible wifi.

I can easily run data drops through the attic or crawlspace. (In fact I think some gamers lived here before me because there are remnants of cat 5 in the crawlspace and attic. It was just run in the most ad-hoc way possible.)

The hoouse we lived in before moving to Boulder was a rental in Cupertino, CA. Our landlord purchased it in 2009 for $1,111,000 and sold it in April for $2,780,000.

Whenever I feel like SF's real estate market is bonkers, I just need to look at places like Cupertino

And that’s why we moved...The prices aren’t helped by having the local high school (Monta Vista) ranked 16th best for academics in the state.

My wife and I are trying to buy a home for the first time (great timing I know) and in the last two months have had two above-ask offers accepted and subsequently reneged on (while we were negotiating contracts) without even being given a chance to match the even nuttier offers the Sellers got. Coming here to read about all the headaches of homeownership at least gives me some form of consolation :colgate:

My life was much simpler when I had an apartment. I didn't have to worry about fixing anything.

Right now I'm out at least $3k since I have a leak coming from my 4th floor terrace because the original builder did such a **** job on the siding for the terrace. I'm hoping there's no structural damage to the house frame.
