Did you see the alpha that moved a 747 engine into his front yard today? Baller.

Its a Twombley's Red Sentinel. A fairly columnar red variatal. Its a tight spot right where I'm going to curve a new path (next weekends project - though wont be able to finish till I rezone my back yard irrigation), so needed something that won't get too wide.

Cool. My dad has at least two Twombley's (but of course he has one of everything). Hard to tell the difference between some of these when they're small.

edit: sort of mature Twombley's

The view of the yard from under a redwood grove. If you look closely, you can see the roofline right in the center of the picture:

Beautiful yard. I envy being able to put acers out in the full sun like that. Honestly my japanese garden project in the LA foothills is aggressive at best.

In 25 years when my new conifers are throwing more shade it might be more feasible. Until then I shall just pay the piper (aka the water bill.)

That's my parent's place, my dad (a professional) has been landscaping it for more than 30 years now. Almost none of it gets full sun all day, there's a big stand of mature shade trees just off frame there.

The maples that really seem to have problem with the sun are the variegated ones. Never get the color that you see in the Pacific Northwest or Japan. Alas.

Doorbell stopped working. I'm assuming it's the result of my tinkering. Can't find the doorbell transformer. Probably buried in the ceiling somewhere.

Roof quote came back pretty reasonable. I was expecting to tell me I needed to replace the thing. Seems like a very professional company, and I was happy they came back for callback ASAP.

Joys of homeownership. Trying to complete at least one home improvement task a day.

Nice walk around the neighborhood today with the dog. The flowering plants and trees of Northern California have decided it is Spring.
