Do any of you use a "mulching-mower"? I usually have a lawn service clean our property of leaves (I'm in PA with a good bit of land, so lots of leaves), however, my wife has been reading about the ecological advantages of mulching not bagging up (don't know what happens after that?) leaves. I'm totally fine with this solution, but don't want to spend weekends fruitlessly mowing a wet lawn and killing the grass, etc.

I do, and also have a leaf vacuum/mulcher for plant beds etc.

It works great, the lawn loves it. You just have to mulch fine enough that it doesn't sit on top of the grass, which isn't too hard.

Only have 1/3 acre though. Would be a harder sell if I had more land.

locally we have a muni leaf collection thing where the world's biggest riding vacuum comes around. so leaves can just get piled up in the street (i think they do this to spare the storm drain system)

but, lots of our leaves end up in our compost. i masticate with a reel mower om nom nom the street service is the relief valve

Haha, only 2 acres of property, but it's covered in trees, so to me going from a townhome last year, this has been a big, very welcome change! ha. I remember your comment about the best thing is to have space away from neighbors, which I can certainly understand!

I'm seriously considering getting a battery leaf blower for this fall. I've been consistently putting out 4 35 gallon trash cans of yard waste a week since the spring and it's barely making a dent. Would be nice to just blow everything in the street and let the city's Mega Maid suck it all up.

I have an ego power 650 battery leaf blower. I use it for blowing off the deck and patio etc. I LOVE IT. it I really impressive power, I don't think you would be disappointed. I don't think it would eb great for whole yard maint., But I do have .75 acres

Turned out nice! I’ve been mulling over plans with what to do with our backyard/patio and am trying to figure out a way to create some attractive covered space for outdoor cooking I could use year round.

So I'm going to sign papers tomorrow. Great news, right? Well, today I took some folks over to check it out and I wanted to check on a leak that was discovered late in the game and which was being repaired.

******* rot, ****** subfloor, big ass hole in the floor, mold under and into the wall.

A couple grand at best, more likely 5-10k. All contingencies released. I can still back out, but it will cost me more to cancel that it will to fix it.
