The best thing money can buy, in terms of residence, is space between you and the neighbors. Houses in my hood are both offset from each other and the lots and required setbacks means no two houses are less than 75 or 80 yards apart. With our one neighbor their lot is at least 20 feet down a berm lower and a football field between us complete with the HOA required undisturbed natural flora. To one up Frost space makes for good neighbors.

I'd have to move like an hour from work to have such luxury. Alas.

Not in 1965.. that is a bit too far back. Especially in montana as was posited

Maybe not in Montana...but I have a friend here in LA who's great great great grandfather was a Chinese immigrant who married a white woman over 100 years ago.

I don't disagree, but my comment was specific to 1965 montana.

It was also very tongue in cheek and joking to someone I like :)

Guiz, not Montana, not 1965. Just a modest little development.

You live in a DC suburb, right? You could get a couple of a house on a couple of acres for $2-3M. That's piob level housing spend.

Modest "75-80 yards between houses"

If that is modest I need to see your definition of not modest

I just was lucky and bought at the right time and in the right way. I did sweat for a bit with two houses, but overall, the Great Recession was a really good buying time.

The two was because we rented out our then current house for a few years while the market recovered. When a deal presents, ya gotta go for it.
