Our Azaleas haven't done squat in 2 years...they get another year before they are replaced. My favorite spot we have are these 2 areas next to some steps with this vibrant pink Phlox. Phlox reminds me of growing up as my mom loved them.

Since we are doing landscaping pics now.

Some blooms along the walkway to the front door. I'm going to need to trim that back as it is starting to encroach on said walkway. Also the crepe myrtle behind it is starting to rub against the house.

Our Japanese maple is growing quite tall, but you can see it leaning towards the afternoon sun.

Anyone recognize this?

Finally a magnolia tree that is getting quite tall. Probably **** 12' today and was about 6' when we bought the house.

Overall the goal is to do more landscaping now that we are finishing up the house.

We planted a few shrubs to start blocking out the street a bit more and a few perennials to help add some color. We will add some more to the front yard, and do similar in back with plants that survive heavy shade under pine trees.

Azaleas love acidic soil. If you put down a product made for them you bight get some blooms.

I’ve lived in nyc for 12 years and never lost power.

i lived in NYC from 2005-2015 and never lost power either (including hurricane sandy).

you n00bs missed the 2003 Northeast blackout. I walked home 100 blocks and promptly ate the icecream in the fridge before it melted Priorities!

I got hit by July blackout last year that affected the westside.

Maybe Viridis? Or Waterfall.

Lots of green dissectum APs out there.

My backyard azaleas are doing great. The ones in the front keep getting eaten by deer over the winter. Hopefully they'll bud this year.

Ours roam the yard freely around the yard when the dog is out, otherwise we pen them up. They will eventually come out once they are used to their surroundings.

Agreed. Mine will come running back to the coop if they see me walking with a tray full of leftovers/scraps for them. They'll also generally come in by themselves when it gets dark.

we've had our fixer for about a year, we spent the first year doing the obvious, immediate stuff. and then some analysis and conceptualizing solutions.

i really love this place but it's got some challenges. i just realized the early perennials are ficaria verna which is a ****** invasive and nigh impossible to get rid of. but, i am hatching a plan.

Thanks, I think it is waterfall based on the fall colors. It appears to be very slow growing. It hasn't grown much in 3 years especially compared to the other Japanese maple.

This is year three for our strawberry plant. Year one had good growth until the deer ate it, year two was just surviving, and year three we have a dozen blooms. Hopefully we can get at least one that is edible..
