We had an old farmhouse double sink in one of our first apartments that was big enough to wash two dogs at the same time. One of those big white porcelain sinks on legs, from the turn of the 20th century. That thing was great except that we’d let it fill up with dirty dishes and then have to spend hours cleaning up.

I had a large cast iron double sink in my kitchen that was installed when the house was built in 1945. The enamel was in pretty bad shape so I started to figure out what to use to replace it. Damned if Kohler didn't still make the ******. :D

You can call me Omega "Two Sinks" Male, and that is the way to go. Used to have two dishwashers, too, but I pulled one out and replaced it with a wine fridge.

Makes sense. I had a work trip to Kohler, WI to meet with them and it was like travelling back to the 1950s.

Single basin all the way. Grew up with a serious cool mother who had one and am a semi serious cook myself - double basins are just annoying for any actual cookware.

We have 2 sinks as well. One is large and the other is in the kitchen island. Its nice to have but id be ok with just the one large one.

We also have two dishwashers. Its only valuable about 6-12 times a year, but during those times it is awesome.

We have 2 small wine fridges in our wet bar area of the great room. I would like to get rid of one and replace it with an ice maker.

In that specific area, they're not uncommon. The house was built in 1970. The population of Cary in 1970 was less than 10k and was originally a poor area generally.

Here's what I don't get. Maybe one of the architects or other experts can correct me if I'm wrong. Those recessed lights are too far from the exterior walls, so they'll create shadows when it is dark out. Why not have a nice linear suspension light over the dining table (the current one is okay, but feels better for a square or circle table), a pendant or semi-flush mount above the seating area in the foreground? The island also needs bigger pendants in my mind. They get completely underwhelmed in the large open space, especially when there are no other lights.

It just seems like people just go Opera with recessed lights (often with no dimmer) thinking it gives them all the lighting they need. There is no accent lighting or task lighting in that entire space. At least in this case they don't appear to be the stupid 4000-5000K color.

Unfortunate. It was tough to tell in the photos if I liked the color or not.

Am I the only one who vastly prefers uplighting? I'll take sconces over can lights any day. Plus, they usually **** up the building envelope...

My understanding of the state of the art is that you establish your air and moisture barriers on the exterior of the structure, minimize penetrations, and then you don't have to worry about airsealing your cans.

Our weed spray company guy has pissed me off for the last time. Thinking of getting this. Comments, other suggestions, etc. welcomed. I only need to keep around .4 of an acre under control, in terms of a blanket spray being needed, the rest is hardscaped so just spot treatment

Just use granular chemicals and get a spreader for the lawn. Easier and more foolproof. For hardscape you can get a decent pump sprayer from a big box store to spot treat for around 30 bucks.

my lawn is about 1/3 acre. It takes me 10 minutes to treat it.

I fired my yard care company a couple months back. I then learned that my sprinklers needed to be repositioned (or that top thing needed to). Lol

Saw yet another overpriced fixer-upper today with fundamental problems that didn't show up in the pictures. Seems to me like people way overvalue their mechanical "updates" (aka replacements) and DIY upgrades (... maybe you should wear a hairnet next time you poly a floor).

It makes me feel a little better that, since starting with our agent, every house we've expected to sit on the market has sat on the market. The one we made an offer on a week ago still hasn't sold, so I guess that other buyer they were supposedly negotiating with fell through. I think I'm going to wait until it's on the market 30 days and send in another (lower) offer.

I just bought this and it worked really well. Too bad I thought the same thing that it would be good for the size of the yard. I have about .5 acres and I need something much more substantial or else I'll spend the whole day walking and refilling, walking and refilling.
