I suppose you're right. The condominium we bought was vacant, but we saw dozens of others that all looked like they'd been decorated by the same person.

On a related note, a friend of mine had to explain to his wife why he snickered every time their agent talked about bringing in a "fluffer".

When we saw our current place it wasn’t staged and visibly needed work. We still had a small bidding war for it, but that’s SF for you.

@Gus are you looking to buy in Santa Fe? My dad’s place is going on the market, it’s really gorgeous - his wife was an interior decorator and did some beautiful upgrades to it.

We want to rent for a while 6-12 months to be sure we find the right area. As you may know each section has it's own qualities and strengths. But, sure, I'm looking to buy something eventually and will begin looking early next month on our next visit.

Last Summer we were perhaps the only house that went on the market in the Bay Area and didn't sell. For a number of reasons, we rushed to put it on the market last June and were assured by agents that "you don"t have to do a thing. The market is red hot". Well, nothing happened. So we took it off the market, took a break, got a new agent and I've spent the last two months prepping it with refinished floors, paint, new wall fixtures and pro staging. They removed everything but 7 pieces of furniture and the larger pieces of art.

On-line photos from last Summer:

So we are living in a home that is now basic white, soft grey and silver. Wish me luck selling!

I think the photos are better shot in the second, but I don't see anything wrong with the first set. Then again I prefer to find a house that has some projects, so something like the dining light fixture wouldn't have bothered me.

I spent the weekend painting my living room and now I am sore as hell as I am not used to moving my body.

Aside from some minor things, the project is finished finally.

How long did that take?

We just passed the six week mark on our bathroom and entry hall project. Sheetrock is going up in the bathroom today.

How long did that take?

We've started our kitchen, hallway and powder room at the beginning of December with demolishing of the old stuff. Our contractors were pretty busy with other projects too that's why it took longer to finish that thing only now and not in January as we were hoping.
