1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

Soon California will secede, so there will be a nice border wall to protect us.

That's what I said: "Jeezus, $200, that's almost what the vacuum cost!" The guy looked at me like i had a hole in my head "Sir, this is a $1,400 machine". I had no idea :embar:

*I guess that qualifies as cuckish admission....

    Don't get sucked in!!! :D

More seriously, the pricing begins to make sense when you consider the quality of attached fittings, which is where the majority of efforts are made by the manufacturer.

There's this archetype of the door to door salesman who goes around selling vacuum cleaners. He didn't do that for a living because there was no profit in them. I think there was always a market for "luxury" vacuum cleaners, I assume as a status symbol for women.

A meile power hose is probably in the 125-175 range depending on which handle is attached... Overpriced, but a bit more complicated than just a hose.

Luckily my cleaning needs are met by a non-electric hose... Because after living with my meile canister, I sure ain't going back to some department store vacuum.

I have an electrolux that cost about a grand back in its day, and it mostly sits in the broom closet while the $125 cordless lithium ion stick vacs do all the work.

Why do y'all have vacuum cleaners? This is StyFo, you should have a cleaning person for all the plebe jobs.

I still vacuum. Too poor for cleaning person.

Not going to let the cleaning person bring some filthy, inferior equipment into my house. That's how you get bedbugs or lice or the plague or whatever.

Yeah, doesn't everyone know that? If I had a cleaning person, they would be using all of my own materials.

I have 2 miele vacuums, one upstairs and one down... my housekeeper still brings her own vac. I asked her why once and she said it was too much trouble managing bags for different vacs in different houses. Made sense. But ya, I have 2 expensive machines sitting fallow unless I break a glass or something.

I wouldn't even let somebody cut my grass with their equipment. It's like your lawn having sex with every lawn they've ever cut. Yuck.
