If you ignore the stupid one-sided bars (how long is it going to take before that gets yanked and loosened?),
Our builder put those in the kids bathroom. For the hand towels and the toilet paper. Guess how long those lasted (mounted in drywall, with plastic anchors)?

Builders should put blocking in the typical mounting spots for towel bars, TP holders, etc.
I never worked in housing but in commercial work the blocking for all bathroom fixtures is the plumbers job and is inspected and signed off on rough in before the walls are closed. 35 years in construction I never saw or heard of a drywall anchor being used.

In residential drywall anchors seem standard…most now come with the big heavy screw in types which at least hold a lot better than the insert type.

In my master you can see where the old towel bar was because some asșhole filled them with soft caulk instead of spackle or mud.

Our majordomo ensures there's always a pile of freshly laundered towels folded at each sink with a basket on the floor to toss the now soiled towel into for collection and the laundry que.

The integrated LED attached to the fan in my office is going out but the fan works fine. Buying a lamp vs. a new fan just for the light...

Ceiling fan lights suck as a rule. All of my ceiling fans that have lights are modular, and you can just replace the LED portion easily enough.

Living room window (double pane) is fogging up- I guess that means we need to replace? How hard to replace yourself?
I've had some replaced under warranty but I watched the guy do it. Looked pretty simple to me. Probably a you tube on it if you know the brand.

Hand towels: Ring vs short bar?

I realize the ring allows a little more movement/extension when drying your hands…but I think everything else about them is worse.

I think they are uglier and they make your towel hang in an ugly way (maybe the idea is they the towel always looks rumpled so no guest ever has to worry about smoothing out the hand towel after use?). The mobility means they have a wear point that can go bad over time. The single attachment point is more likely to get loose and sloppy (unless you hit a stud) as people yank on it while drying hands.

The flat Is preferred in my eye…but most bath hardware sets seem to have gone to the ring and don’t offer a short hand towel bar.

Some sets you can buy the 18” towel bar and cut it down, but others the ends are fixed so you can’t even DIY a solution.
My experience has been towel rings make more sense in half baths with limited space and bars in a full bath assuming space is not at a premium.
