I'm not generally a fan of, and try to avoid, integrated LED lights because even though they claim a long lifespan, once it burns out you're probably replacing the entire fixture. That said, we installed Sean Lavin's Nyra chandelier above our dining table and it keep it running for several hours each day because we like it so much and have just accepted that we'll be working with the manufacturer to replace the lighting unit if/when it burns out.

But I don't love the AJ wall lamp in your space either because I think its angular and shiny appearance, attractive on its own, could potentially distract from the actual art itself (or its an option for great lighting/art synergy).
That chandelier is nice!

I really like the stainless steel AJ, but it's available in white as well. I like it because I can keep the lights in the hallway even if I decide to move the artwork later. It can easily be tilted upward.

Electrician put in boxes for wall lights. Hole in the middle is where doorbell chime was and will get patched. Two boxes on right of door for picture lights and one on left of door for sconce.

Call me old fashioned, but I would have had my lights picked out before holes for lights are cut.

Old fashioned. New thing is to put electrical boxes where you want the lights and cut out holes that work for any size wall lights.

But I do have quite a bit of patching to do. Old phone jacks, round wall plates with a bell in the middle (not sure what those are), and moved switches.

I'm pretty sure any wall light works with a standard box. I would have decided on the light and quantity before cutting holes because I might change placement depending on the fixture (vertically or horizontally).

You’re right. But electrician was already doing all the other lights and didn’t want to have him up in the attic again later, so I measured where I wanted the art and where I’d place lights over it. Also checked measurements of fixture wall plates.

You get it.

You only light once.

measure twice light once as they say .

the into-the-breach mindset is impressive , i'm looking forward to seeing the outcome I think it will be great !

fwiw I rely on modeling to confirm ideas . back when we did our bathroom I did a bunch of drawings and then put together a 1:1 mockup of the sink and stand etc . horses for courses .

Some updates with lights (please offer critique and advise):

In living room, family room, and master: 2 downlighs and 2 adjustable (4 in. Nora Iolite). 2 dimmer switches and 1 switch for outlet.

Family room:

Entryway light and solartubes going to go eventually. I'm not sure if I want to patch the ceiling or replace the solartubes with skylights.

Gap between light trim and ceiling bugging me, but not sure what to do about it. The can was pretty flush. It's probably my ceiling drywall.

Those gimbals are 4"? They look minuscule in the room. Honestly, I just don't get what you're trying to do with your ceiling lights. If you're happy with it, I'm happy for you.

I do love the Tolomeo Mega.

Yeah, 4". They don't look as small in person. I didn't want 6" lights, and I'm not sure I want more than two on each side.

This is the light:

What would you have done different with the ceiling?

I think it would be more illustrative to take the pictures at night so we can see what the lights are actually doing in the space.
