Are we going to talk about how much you guys love colored caulk again?

It's definitely a recurring theme among the frequent posters in here!

We're replacing our old, drafty, crappy sliding doorwall to the back patio. It's three panes, about 15' x 8' in total, with the middle pane being the one that slides. We've had 4 different companies out to give us quotes in the past few weeks. The earliest any of them will be able to manufacture the door/windows and get it installed is "sometime in November or December." Oh well. Thankfully this isn't an emergency repair so we won't be sitting there with a plywood wall for weeks or something.

Hey all - wanted to get some opinions.

I'm retriming my home with 1/2" thick, 6" tall solid mahogany baseboards. I had originally been planning on having uneased boards, but have been thinking that for durability i might ease them 1/16" slightly. Also thinking completely uneased might look somewhat funky. Any opinions?

Also any opinions on 45ed vs butt cut corners? I have a somewhat craftsman reno going in the long run - stained wood casings and fixtures etc - and butt cut is a thing often seen, I'm just not sure i care for it.

i'd be curious to see the coping approach rather than miters at my own place, if only because the seasons end up jogging the miters apart. it might make sense here.

when you say eased you mean planing off a bit of the boards so they can bend in and hug the wall? i think they have product that fits and fills the gap between the wall and board but haven't really seen it in person to offer an eval.

**** I think I just figured out how to relocate the laundry to the 2nd floor. Then I can turn the all-season porch the laundry is currently in back into a breakfast nook and/or steal some space for the kitchen.

Bracing myself for the "DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH THIS IS GOING TO COST?" talk from the wife.

Guess who has no power for the 6th time in the new house?

Guess who slept 30 minutes last night drove to Menards at 6am, bought the last generator and transfer switch, has been wiring since 7 am, has almost everything done and is about to assemble a generator.

Guess who is in desparate need of stimulants and a nap before a 4 hour road trip this afternoon.

Dear god someone send help

This is how I know I’m a fraud and an interloper in this thread. I would’ve just gone to a hotel
Weren't you also going to hire an electrician for a ring doorbell?

We would've bought a backup generator after about the third outage. Mrs. O'Nine doesn't like to deal with the kids when their iPads die.
