OK guys. I have a massive denim collection. Frighteningly big. I need to weed it down. I'm looking at having three "ultimate" pairs in my wardrobe.

I'm waiting on my credit card so I can get some PB AI-001's off of coldrice. They look like a beautiful pair of jeans. They're a piece of clothing you can look at in a picture and obsess with, even though you've never touched a pair, much less tried them on. The fit also seems perfect for me and the denim is wild.

Hopefully things will work out so I can also get a pair of Jomon's. These are my favorite pair of jeans that I've ever tried on. The cut somehow compliments my frame despite the thin cut of the jean. I love them and I figure this fills in under the premier jean moniker on the other end of the spectrum. Can't really do better on either end, really. In my mind.

Now I need a third pair. Not an alternative, just something more to fill the gap. Plus, I don't think I could live with just two pairs of jeans, no matter how nice they are. It doesn't have to be Japanese, but with coldrice's situation I thought now would be a good time to ask. I've actually been eyeing Kicking Mule's for a long, long time, but I'm afraid they'll be kind of moot once I get my PBJ's.

Any help? I don't know a lot about Studio D'Artisan, do they have anything that fits my bill. Again, I'm looking for something comparable to the other pairs in quality while having its own unique identity.

    Thanks guys.

if you're looking at Japanese denim, the Eternal 811 would definitely be part of the 'triumvirate' on the basis of its unique material alone.

pbj > eternal in terms of "uniqueness" in my opinion anyway. maybe you need d1177's haha. they're 21oz. (something not in your collection) but they feel like you're wearing silk lined pants (LH denim) and they aren't cardboard-like (like samurai's). color is pretty unique on them, when you look at it close it kinda looks like it's blue and white striped- kinda changes color in the light (as shown by the picture of the denim orgy in my thread- the two jeans on the left are both d1177's but the light is hitting them differently.)

Kicking Mule is nice, but I don't think it should even be mentioned in the same paragraph as the AI-001 and the Jomons. I've been working on a pair for 2 months, and I really like them... but they don't have any stand out characteristics (IMO). Probably easily mistaken for APC...

May want to consider 5EP bootcuts (my current fav) to complement the straight legs you're looking at. Or maybe the Black Overdyed Sorahiko...

You can do a search on superfuture for d1177. Someone posted some really nice pics on there.

I don't think eternals are as special as the two pairs you're getting. Also the fit is slimmer, if that's what you're looking for.

    Is the d1177 actually comparable?
