The History Boys (the movie)

While I had a vague idea about what this movie was about, I was not prepared for what I saw in the movie theater. Superb acting. Characters that interested me and that I cared about. Every character, every scene, has a purpose. Tightly knit plot and dialogue.

That school is perfectly grimey. The headmaster is wonderfully swarmy.

While there is a "gay" issue in the movie, it is not what the movie is all about. Just as "Bobby" is not really about Bobby Kennedy.

One of the best pictures I've seen in a long time.

Having heard the radio version of the play this Christmas, I am looking forward to seeing the film.

Saw the film last week. It was great. When i saw that "uncle Monty" (Withnail & I reference) was in it, i had to see it. The film was so much better and intelligently written that i expected.

Another "intelligent" movie--I like that term--is "The Good Shepherd".
