I went for a nice walk today, wearing one of our Yearn Shoemaker Balmoral Boots in Burgandy. I recall that I used to despise taking walks, thinking that it was a waste of time. Now, funnily enough, I feel that some of my best ideas are sought on walks. I think that this "walking -> new ideas" is a well-discussed, if not well-documented, phenomena

This warrants a comment and not only a like. Stunning shoes. Absolutely gorgeous. Do share pictures of wearing it IRL when you get them.

It’s absolutely stunning! Enjoy.

Speaking of art, my Graziat is in a fedex box headed to the US. I can’t wait to get my hands on the pair. The owner is a very very talented gentleman and takes patina to the next level. Of course that’s my biased opinion ? View attachment 1739647

Oliver just shared a photo of my first Acme MTO. I've never ordered a handmade MTO pair of shoes before. I'm a bit anxious about the fit but I'm loving how this looks. That sole is just amazing.

Looks incredible. What was his sizing advice for you?

So I've recently realized that I've been getting shoes in the wrong size for 20 years in that the shoes I tend to get in standard sizing were a UK size 9. This accommodated the width of my feet but were too long for me. My left foot is also about 1/2 size smaller. With Acme, I did my best to be thorough and I took measurements of my vamp, ball, and my partner traced out my foot and took photos and measurements. I also took photos of my bare feet so that Oliver could assess my arch and instep. He recommended a modified last for their UK size 8 1/2 but made a bit wider. I think the fit will be improved even if it's not 100% perfect. I'll share thoughts and photos when I receive them. I asked about trial shoes, which Acme offers, but Oliver didn't think it was necessary.

I am planning to have Acme redo much of my dress shoe wardrobe if this works out. I am optimistic as the customer service has been great so far. Oliver has been very patient and informative.

If anything comes of this commission, I'm hoping the fit is spot on. It would make any proceeding purchases that much better (ACME or any other brand).

Think that’s one of the thing I avoid early (upsize to accommodate width), I either go up width or pass on that last, good thing you went MTO on these

Really tempted to pull the trigger on a pair of ACME RTW (quarter brogue in gold museum). Just a bit nervous about how they’ll fit.

G&G have been a great fit for me, and Oliver recommended going down half a size from my G&G size.

Finally here! Pardon the pictures taken with a potato by a sleep deprived post night shift man. Also I just slipped them on with my scrubs on to see how the fit is. They felt really nice for the 5 minutes I had them on. Did in deed feel like a wetsuit from heel to ball. Or as close to it as I’ve ever known. This is officially the highest end I’ve acquired and the most $$$ I’ve spent on a pair.

Those look fantastic. I also like that they look good on the foot. Typically wholecuts are mehh, they did a wonderful job of giving the shoes a shape.
I definitely like the trees! ??

Wear them in good health. As per the price.... just remember that when you get over the high cost of anything, the joy of wearing/using them is priceless.
