edit: and in a few years I can see all these new Chinese ones being serious threat to the traditional RTW

I've just ordered a custom made pair of oxfords from a Chinese shoe maker that claim they are hand welted with soles imported from Italy. The shoemaker was even kind enough to send me videos from the factory of them soling the shoe and through various processes of the shoemaking. Any thoughts on the quality from these photos?

Once everything I’ve ordered arrives I’ll have 4 Y pairs, 1 Oct 10, and 1 Wayman bespoke.

I’m very interested in comparing them as well. I ordered the grey lazyman from October 10.

I will have four different Y lasts to compare.

Hopefully they will arrive soon.

I think that's from Eiji Murata, who's Japanese. Didn't he place like 2nd in the shoemaking contest?

Well Eiji Murata is far from new. The dude is a legend already. Possibly the best Japanese shoemaker (or from any country) out at the moment.
