JP - your photography is better than mine! Thanks. Shoes look beautiful. What are you currently using for your soles? In the past, I have recommended the Saphir Dubbin Grasie. However, Neats Footoil also works well to condition soles.

Nice! I would use just Saphir Renovateur on a pair of antiqued shoes like this. Beautiful finishing. It would take me a few Sundays to shine this many pairs of shoes....

Maybe I should be shining my shoes at night with scotch instead of in the morning with coffee... I'll try this next week. Not like I am doing much anyway at night given the newborn...

    Kirby,

I used wrong terminology. I meant edge dressing. I'm about to order the edge dressing tube , and some wax polish. Give them both a try.

In the past I have used Fiebings.

Next time you are in NYC or Paris go to the Berluti store and ask. They don't sell it but sometimes they will offer a square or two to customers. The artisan refinishing people at Berluti use it, so there is usually some around.

very interesting! I just saw you said berluti has some. Next time I go to NYC ill definitely have to ask them.

my problem was I was going to cheap stores and buying handkerchiefs to use to polish and realized they are blends of crap and so that why no matter how long I spend polishing they never really have the luster or the quality that I see on the forum. Now I know (Me = Stoopid)

I only have court on weekends, so suits are a twice a week affair. I shined two pair last week and this week I managed to not scuff either pair that I wore. So I decided to be a nice guy and shine my wife's heels. They're full calf navy Brooks Brothers pumps, so they need some love, too. Besides, if she learns to shine shoes, I can start asking her to do them every so often, haha. I need to get some navy Saphir polish--using AE black cream polish with some neutral AE carnauba on the front where the toe cap normally would be. Not sure if that's the proper way to polish heels, but I think it came out okay. These were in good shape so the difference is more subtle, but hopefully the pics convey at least some degree of change.

    Quick Shine-

I mostly just use renovateur on all my shoes. I like applying it with index and middle finger and working in.

After letting it dry, vigorous brushing for a few minutes. Trying to just let the edge of the bristles touch. While I like high gloss shoes in photos, it is not something for me. So mostly its just a brush to the shoe.

Breaking all #meanswear rules, by buckling up. Off to Brunch.

Vaguely related to Shoe Shine Sunday and inspired by PocketSquareGuy, I've decided to open a bottle of wine and finishing organizing some socks I just washed.

Question: Do you roll or fold your socks? What are your tricks for organizing your sock drawer? I'm working on re-organizing mine. Trying to figure out a better system.

I hang-dry my socks to extend their life. After they dry, I fold and put away in my sock drawer.

Wash them in lingerie bag and then hang dry. Fold the matching sock over the first so I don't lose track of the pair. Rolling takes too much space and harder to see all pairs in drawer IMO.
