Here is the Shell Cordovan wallet I recently got:
Thank you for posting pictures. I'd expecting nothing less from the men on this forum. :
kmdsimpson - for your travel wallet (the LV one) - is there anywhere for cash? Or would that be kept separately?
Honestly, I suppose that it isn't that important that something like this be able to carry cash. For one, cash is being used less and less. At most, I have a few 20's in my pocket. Second, if you really are trying to minimize the footprint of one's wallet, then you could always carry cash in separately altogether. Cash is really the bulkiest component of a wallet, yet it can be easily relocated to an independent pocket.
I think I am going to look into having the current style modified to remove the inner divider (pictured below):
And then look into having one similar to the LV Pocket Organizer recreated.
Let me know your thoughts...
No room for cash. I carry it separately. I think the dimensions of a wallet that holds cash - not just thickness, but also width and height (usually in the 3" x 4" range) are too large. The LV Pocket Organizer is about the perfect size to fit into a front pocket. Or like the size that Don L posted, as well.
Just my personal preference.
Wanted to say that I received the Parker Razor I purchased and was very pleased with it! I was looking at this one for the longest time and this Parker has scratched the itch without the financial impact! For $30 plus shipping it was almost a steal!
Consequently, I was trying to leave a product review on your site and for some reason the review form refused to appear. I am not sure if it's working appropriately.
Just FYI and thanks again!
MZHammer - I am happy that I was able to prevent you from wasting money on a $200 razor. It's sad what Gilette is doing to The Art of Shaving. I recently saw them release a vibrating badger brush?!? I mean, who was the marketing idiot (or genius) that thought of that! A vibrating badger brush -- like that's supposed to do anything.
A great example of how a multinational marketing conglomerate continues to sterilize the enjoyment of shaving.
Also - I do not see any pending reviews from you. Were you logged in when submitting? If you email me the review, I'll try to post it manually. I really appreciate you submitting a review! They are very helpful to us.
Got my Crema Da Barba and badger brush yesterday, as well as my first suit hangers. Absolutely top notch product, love it. Any chance you will be offering a straight razor at some point? I want to skip right over safety razors and go to that.
I'll probably begin carrying these next year, along with some upgraded badger brushes.
I just received a sample of a straight razor and am looking to learn how to use it. Hopefully I will not do much permanent damage!
Just scored some autographed copies of Alan Flusser's Style and the Man and Dressing the Man to sell just for the holidays! Thanks to Alan for taking the time to autograph these for me!
Just ordered some Saphir Renovateur as a Christmas gift to myself... looking forward to finally giving it a try!
Awesome! Let me know what you think! Also, remember that there is Free Shipping on all orders over $50.00. I've adjusted the StyleForum promo code to include this for all orders over $50.00.
Please post some before and after pics when you get a chance.
New 15.0" Shirt Hangers are now available. We now have four sizes in our shirt hangers: 15.0, 17.0, 19.0, and 21.0 inches! In both our natural and traditional finishes...
I am interested in buying an umbrella, but the postage to Sydney is an extra 20% on top.
Is there anyway you can work some magic for the 22nd of December promotion?
Just to report back on my order.
Didn't get charged any duties but there was HST (went through USPS).
The hangers are awesome
btw any special care for the palatino socks? I did one test wash on one of the pairs and the logo/100% cotton/made in italy text pretty much came off (is it suppose to be that way or they aren't meant for machine wash and strictly hand?).
Anyways pretty much wore these socks for 12 hrs and they never even moved and you kinda forget you're still wearing socks
Thanks, kyojura! Glad to hear that things worked out with international postage. Thanks for the feedback. It's incredible how inconsistent the customs treatment can be even within the same country.
Regarding our new Palatino Socks, I am so happy you are enjoying them. The feedback has been incredibly positive. Nobody makes a cotton sock with as high-grade cotton as we do with this one -- it is why we had to have it made especially for us. Standard sock collections do not include cotton as fine as the cotton used in our socks because of it's delicacy (an inherent characteristic).
Regarding your questions:
1. Yes, a more detailed sock care tutorial will be forthcoming early January. However, in short:
Turn your socks inside-out before washing.
Machine wash delicate cycle in cold water.
ONLY wash your socks WITH SOCKS. Do not mix with other articles of clothing, which could cause them to accumulate lint (another reason for turning inside-out before washing -- even if they do accumulate lint, you can just turn the socks right-side out). There is no quicker way to ruin a pair of socks than to throw them in the washing machine with a bath towel... you'll never remove the lint.
Use light detergent.
DO NOT dry in a dryer. It will cause the elastic in the top band to degrade, thereby shortening the life of the sock. Instead, turn right-side out and hang try. This is CRITICAL.
Always keep your toenails trimmed. Fine socks are exactly that: fine! The higher quality the sock, the thinner the cotton yarns. The finer the cotton yarns, the more delicate they are. So, although the toes and heals of our socks are reinforced with a third yarn (3-ply yarns instead of the 2-ply used throughout the rest of the sock), you can still tear a hole in them with a sharp toenail. It happens.
If you do wear a hole in your socks, consider darning them. It adds character.
2. The text is designed to wash off. This is normal. Happens with all socks.
We'll be receiving more socks beginning late January. Exciting things planned for 2013. Let me know if you have any special requests!
