Á Napulé caro:

Correct: Napels, but also about 5-6 times a year in Amsterdam for a few days - but that will not help anyone of you!

They are looking at London, but need to see how much appetite there will be - prices for London would be about 1400 euro CMT suit (1100/300 Jacket/Trouser). Add an extra 100 for coat. But that’s a bit of a guess.

All,

Sorry for reviving an old thread, but does anyone have any recommendations for a tailor in NYC that can make hand sewn functioning buttonholes? I’ve tried Wazin and Peppino’s but the results are nowhere near as nice as some of the examples in this thread, and after several attempts at redos I’ve given up and will happily pay a more skilled tailor to redo them.

I’ve heard there is a woman at the Brioni showroom who used to do them on the side but haven’t had any luck tracking her down.

All suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I am checking with a friend in the costume industry in NYC. as you can imagine with Broadway being closed, the costume shops are closed. I am checking if one of the finishers wants to do this until the costume industry opens again.

Hey,

I became friendly with Jake of J.Mueser before COVID. His in-house tailor is really quite capable. Tell him Eli sent you.

Here's a jacket he did for me. Turnaround time was one day.

Thank you @Eli Curt! Will he do button holes on jackets they did not sell?

Also for those who asked, I finally got around to taking photos of the existing buttonholes. See below, all done by the same tailor, but there isn’t much consistency in size and shape, even amongst buttons on the same sleeve.

Yes, this is a Castangia jacket.

Here are a few of mine I grabbed from the closet.

Of these, the grey mohair isaia sleeves impress me the least. The SP sleeves are the best imo.

The tuxedo sleeves were done in NYC by Ercole's. Not the best work.

The Spier & Mackay sleeves were done in NJ by my tailor, Enzo Preta, who hates doing them, but only if you don't butter him up first.

Here are some more.

Of these, my favorite are the Castangia and Stile Latino (Ticanti) sport coats. I think Castangia is a shade away from some of the Brioni holes, on par with others, which I find to be the prettiest holes around.

My weakest of this bunch are the SP horseblanket holes. I think they were done without any gimp.

The last one is Poszetka.
