Having Sicilian blood = being 400 lbs?

Outside of a serious medial condition, the guy just need to put down the deep fried bacon cheeseburgers and have a salad or 400.

being obese and looking good are not mutually exclusive. christies looks okay/good for his size, not particularly styling but then he is not an entertainer.

besides, its the gop. not biggest losers contest. you can't expect every fat men to be like huckabee, and the guy himself even gain weight back due to exercise related injuries...

A lot of politicos dress terribly in real life, so that's realistic.

With the trend towards slimmer styles, I think people forget just how awful the styles of the late 90's/ early 2000's were. Baggy coats, formless sacks of fabric masquerading as pants, incredibly ugly ties.

And yeah, the menswear in West Wing is often pretty bad. I've had the series on a pretty much endless loop over the past few months. Before that, I hadn't watched any of it since the original run. It's really an amazingly good series. Some of the best writing, acting, and production quality I've ever seen. A few recent series have topped it, but we're talking stuff like Game of Thrones and Downton Abbey, both of which have production values that are through the roof. IIRC, it was the first TV series to be shot on film stock.

Oh, and I do find myself putting my jacket on a la Martin Sheen on occasion. It's gotten to me.

I see a small tie knot for such a large face, same with lapel and tie width (they're both too narrow for his large body), besides the tie is ugly as hell and doesn't work with the white shirt...

I will go on record as saying a man will be very challenged to look business appropriate when morbidly obese. It's not like he is 40 pounds overweight. This would be the equivalent of someone being such an alcoholic that they were shitfaced at 9am. Do you have any idea how much food it takes to maintain that level of weight? He is a governor, he has a full-time chef and staff that can arrange round-the-clock healthy meals for him. And with so many people voting for him he owes it to his constituents to make healthy lifestyle choices so he does not drop-dead mid-term.

As per my earlier post...I find it fascinating that a politician would switch to Windsor knots late in his career....this is a new thing for him. Trying to be Reagan? :satisfied:

I also want to say I think that tie is a total washout.

Seems like you should be voting for Mr. Universe instead of the President of USA. On the other hand, Churchill did just fine as a politician, a world leader, and a fat alcoholic man.
Aside from the gigantic arm holes, he looks fine.

My initial post was questioning what having Sicilian blood had to do with being morbidly obese.

I dont expect overweight men to fit a certain mold. To each their own. Aside from a medical condition, I don't see how any sports injury could be an excuse for being that size. I think we can agree, Christie is a very very overweight man, playing in a space where perception often times becomes reality.

I find Christie intelligent charismatic and a rising star. I'd vote for him. I was merely stating an opinion.

Churchill was heavyset, but nowhere near as obese as Christie. And Christie is certainly no Churchill.

Maybe his suit is cleverly camouflaging his girth. Take a good look.

I am not going to feel sorry for him, like not picking on the fat kid in the schoolyard. That level of uncontrolled gluttony shows a severe lack of control...if he were abusing alcohol instead of food, he'd be tripping over his feet and slurring his words and I seriously doubt people would vote for an out of control drunk. If he is going to continue to be in the public eye and running for office he needs to get his act together.

I'll give him the ten points back for jacket buttoned while sitting down, because that is pretty standard for a television presenter.

For an extremely fat man he's dressed pretty well. Perhaps you are commenting on the "extremely fat part" - and yes, that's pretty shocking.
