looking good, g. always nice to see you.
thanks s - whatever happened to your frequent NYC trips? let's grab a cold one when you're back here
I think it's a little hard to pair up an odd grey jacket in warmer seasons... Usually a herringbone / Donegal is a lot more easy to pair up. Anyway - this is mine from Winter...
PoseFail:
Ten days after AAS wore his excellent rig, I put this together. I'm enough of a Campbell to wear this tie, though it's not q-u-i-t-e my branch. Note that, in the interim, I have purchased better-fitting gray flannels, and put much more effort into keeping them creased. Otherwise, I'd gladly repeat this rig, though I might wear different shoes, and take a picture where the jacket looks a little better. Actually, given that it's 95 F here today, I'd love to be able to wear this again.
I can't be arsed to look through old pics, so here's what I'm wearing today:
Here's an outfit that I tried a month or two ago, after a discussion in the Australian Members' thread about wearing grey odd jackets. I usually wear the jacket with a white OCBD shirt, a knit tie and blue trousers, but I decided that I would try something a bit different and a little bit monochromatic. The outfit in the (rather bad) photos consists of a pair of charcoal grey flannel trousers, indigo chambray shirt, mid-grey herringbone weave odd jacket, brown cashmere tie and chestnut shoes.Interestingly, when I've worn the grey jacket with the white shirt and dark blue trousers before, none of the women in my office have ever commented on my outfit, but when I wore the darker, rather monochromatic combination above, I received quite a few, totally unsolicited compliments.
The weather was actually better than promised here today, so I decided to go with white chinos with the grey flannel jacket to make it a more summer-appropriate outfit.Details:
First picture is by far the best with respect to color. Others are simply to show the bottom half of the outfit (white trousers, light brown shoes).
This is how I do it: Steven Hitchcock SB, Harrison Saltire Cashmere windowpane & Ambrosi trousers in Minnis 300 flannel. Turnbull & Asser shirt with detached collar from Budd, Rubinacci tie, John Lobb St James's nubuck
Not the greatest pic. ******* with SF group think in more than one way here, gray SC + navy pants.
As a long time defender of grey sport coats, I ought to participate
Grey herringbone tweed is classic. Haven't worn it for months, obviously, but the thought actually makes the end of summer a little easier.
