I watched this again the other night. If you haven't seen this, you need to. It's such an underrated classic. One of Mitchum's best roles, and so 70's gritty

Is this finally available to download or on DVD? I had a crappy VHS copy years ago but haven't seen it in a decade. This movie perfectly captures that gritty '70s feel. Awesome film.

It's been released by the Criterion Collection.

Fantastic film and one of MItchum's quintessential role. It also captures the grind of the working class to a tee. Even when he goes to see the Bruins game, he's sitting up in the nosebleed section.

It's been years since I've seen this (and yes, I concur with everyone that it was a great movie). For those who've seen it most recently, does anyone recall whether the line to the effect that 'life is hard, and it's even harder when you're stupid' ( usually attributed to John Wayne) was actually - as I've heard - uttered by one of the characacters in Eddie Coyle?

Jackie Brown, the gun dealer in the movie, says it. Not sure if it's in the book.
