I'm glad you saw the 1980 John Carpenter version and not the 2005 version.

If you want two more Carpenter movies from that era that REALLY were scary...get The Thing and Prince of Darkness. POD still creeps me out to this day.

Nothing that special effects did could ever have replicate the terror shown with the look on Joaquin Phoenix's face when he was hiding in the closet watching TV and saw the alien video. They should have left it up to our imagination.


I dont think the ending was ruined, but I completely agree with you on the creepy/scariness of the closet scene.

Great movie, but nothing beats Big Trouble in Little China for alltime best Carpenter flick!
