The brown/taupe mini check suit, is absolutely stunning. The prices are not bad, at all.

I love the vicuna cashmere topcoat, as well. Ravishing color.
Paul Stuart is always a pleasure to peruse. If I were taller, and I mean . . . considerably taller (I'm five foot seven,) this line would have been in my arsenal. Aristocratic elegance.

I'd say it's one of their Samuelsohns, and as you noted, the vest is sold separately.

Nope.

The canvas is machine-padded, though, if that makes a difference to you. But PS's "hand-tailored" suits cost twice as much...

Just to clarify, for newer members, PS only utilizes Samuelsohn for cut-make-trim. The patterns and fabrics are supplied by PS, and the entire suit is made to PS's exacting specifications. These suits are not Samuelsohn's with a PS label sewn in.

I think the quality of make on Paul Stuart's standard line of suits is excellent, and even at retail they represent one of the best values in American RTW. (Compare to Polo Blue label, which charges roughly the same for half-canvas suits.) Also, PS has the widest offerings of sizes, which I appreciate. (i.e. they have 39, 41, 43, etc., and their jackets are available in 5 lengths compared to the usual 2).

That is pretty awesome.

The only caveat is I think not all the lengths are available in each size. For example, a 38 might not be avail. in X-long unless it is a special order. Ditto for a 50 short. But if you're, say, a 41 semi-long, PS is the place to be. I think for people of hard-to-find sizes, you'll be more assured of a good fit in PS RTW compared to MTM at many other places.

I'm praying to the sartorial gods that there is another Paul Stuart sample sale in New York. A tri-annual event isn't too much to ask for, is it? Though, I'll have to make a rush for the little sizes before Zack gets there...

That sale accounts for a good chunk of my regular shoe rotation.

though I'm still cursing my failure to pick up a pair of the side-laced Stuart's Choice...
