Yes, nothing to be afraid of, it's good for the knit to be washed. Tightens the fibers, etc., or so says Margaret Howell, who fancies herself a cashmere expert.

You don't want any stray food or anything sitting in there and attracting beasties.

I wash some of my cotton ones with relative frequency, because I seem to sweat like a monster at times.

MMM is nice, but I feel so blasee about low-gauge knits lately. Sipang, on the other hand, is choosing reeeel well. Schneider knits feel like a gossamer cloak, but you do have to be gentle on them.

Schneider > all. But I have to rank SNSH knits up there in the top 3.

Yeah most say not to dry clean. I heard it could take the dye out of the wool. Looks like it will be a hand wash when needed, i was just a bit apprehensive of soaking heavy knits and ever getting them dry

Oh? I wear my Stark cardigan like twice a week and it has just the right amount of chunkiness. Where I live, chunkiness counts, unless you're layering, then that's where Schneider comes in.

Gently push the water out, then sandwich between towels and roll it into a sushi roll to expel some water, then unroll and dry flat.

I would be more concerned with hand washing DBSS or Rodarte type knits, seems like a major pain **********.
