Leave it to the Economist. I guess they've downsized their staff of fact-checkers. The second illustration said to depict a "Beau Brummel" type, if not the "Beau" himself, is wrong by about 25 years, say 1790 or so. Especially considering the text even explains how Brummel caused people to move away from the sort of style in the image, the bright colours and knee-length breeches being about as far from Brummel's style as it gets.
