First off, I know that there have been a few threads in the past that deal with this very issue, but all of them seem to die off without any real conclusion as to how the issue can be solved. With that in mind...

Here's a picture I found online that demonstrates exactly what I'm talking about:

The only suggestion that seems to have any effect is to wear pants that have button flies rather than zipper flies, but that can only do so much. The general consensus seems to be, "there's not much you can do about it," but (I will regret saying this, but there's no other way to get my point across...) when I glance around the office at other men, it seems that I'm the only one suffering from this problem.

Are there any solutions that haven't been dug up yet? For anyone else who struggles with the same issue, have you come across any brands that seem to help minimize the "pants tent" effect? I know it's a funny concept to think about, but it really does frustrate me that I can't find a pair of pants that actually fit me well.

It happens more often with pleated pants because there is more material to billow out.

The effect is eliminated somewhat with tighter low rise flat front pants, but at the risk of comfort.

That definitely makes sense. I prefer flat front pants anyways, but it's been difficult for me to find low-rise pants that are appropriate for a workplace environment.

I think you simply need the trousers to be closer fitting in the waist area. You might also want to look into odd trousers with a lycra content so that excess fabric can distribute out more evenly.

and you know what that means in this case :(

I'm small and almost always wear slim, lower rised pants and this still happens to some degree. Agree with the non pleated pants to help minimized the effect. But never thought about it, the photo is funny, I would never post a pic of mine in such an unfortunate position, i'm very picky with that.

I think your bigger issue is what your coworkers are saying to each other about the fact that you keep staring at their crotches. [IMG]

That's really the main issue here. But seriously, a low rise could work.

Stop wearing pants that are cut "generously".
