A new pair of chukkas from Cobbler Union arrived. A wonderfull chukka, the second in the same model and same last (first pair in Utah Calf).

These chukkas shout out quality in every angle. The suede is very soft, the burgundy linning and the quilted heel cup gives the sensation that you have purchased something special. A round toe to accomodate my bulky feet that put these chukkas on the "almost" casual side. I have applied some Collonil suede waterproff spray to avoid the horrible stains that my sloppy way of eating ensures.

Picked these up unexpectedly during a trip to Philly. An Alden chukka makeup from Sherman Brothers in Philly was on sale and I had to jump before I caught the flight back home later that day! My first Aldens!

Had a bit of trouble fitting them, as the Leydon last is notoriously hard to fit. Especially when you have duck feet that are way wider in the front than the back, like me. Decided to size down slightly in the hope that the unlined CXL stretches just a bit. The joys of a new last...

It’s been awhile since I put on a pair of chukkas but with the temp dropping to 70 degrees last night I figured it was cool enough to sport the Luther by Sanders.

Also, while perusing some new offerings by Astorflex, particularly their Cityflex suede Oxford, I came across this new suede chukka called the Rampiflex which appears to be Astorflex’ take on the Wallabee. My interest is definitely piqued.

Can anyone recommend chukkas or desert boots with particularly soft bouncy soles?. I have back pain which confines me to Ecco type horrors and the only vaguely acceptable things I have found are Timberland Naples which are now discontinued.

Astorflex owners, does any one have or tried on their Dukeflex boot? I like the moc toe, but was wondering if anyone had experience with it.

Another contender would be the Drake’s Crosby boot.

As you will see from this thread, Astorflex Greenflex desert boots are really comfortable. They need no breaking in, are an incredibly affordable price and look and feel really good. I have back pain, too and These are a great help - as are Jadd's desert boots. Jadd will make them to your size and to fit you. He also offers you a great number of options with regard to leather, soles and so on.

You will see that Mr Gold, above, is wearing Astorflex Greenflex and he is holding up well! Hope this helps a bit and good luck!

Snuff suede chukkas are one of my favourite boots. Since I live in Peru is very expensive to return shoes so eventually I get over stocked.

- The AE Katmai is a tad snug in the forefoot maybe due to the thick leather. I took them to the cobbler to be stretched an return fitting great.

- 360 Welt
- Vibram Lite
- I purchased two pairs of SH&H (by C&J) Ranger that have seen a lot of action (one as back up that is in pristine conditions)

- The Loake Kempton unfortunately does not fit me very well maybe is my high instep that forces the tongue to be not hidden by the flaps, I am considering placing a couple of stitches buy might be risky

5th COBBLER UNION

- The CU are very comfortable, my latest purchase, maybe the neatest finishing.

Hello Mercurio, did you had any issue with the Kempton's tongue? In the pair I own the tongue is not hidden by the flaps, maybe is my high instep. I was considering taking them to a cobbler to place a couple of stiches to close the gap. I will appreciate your comments. Saludos.

I have the same issue with some chukka boots. It's because of high instep indeed. I ended up selling them.

I have the same issue with some chukka boots. It's because of high instep indeed. I ended up selling them.

My feet are slim, with a low volume and instep, so I don't have that situation. Generally, my problem is the opposite: I have to use light insoles or thicker socks “to fill the gap”. Loake’s 026 last fits me quite well, which I prefer to the Capital last.

That makes sense, my feet is beefy.

I like the Kempton a lot, so I have decided to take them to the cobbler for some additonal stitches, let's see what happends.
