The Desert Boot and Chukka appreciation/review thread

I bought them a couple of years ago mostly because of their colour, from a "Made in Italy" line that is sold in my country. I have read that Florsheim quality is not the same since they are not produced anymore in the USA, but I feel that this "made in Italy" line is worth enough without being of outstanding quality, as they have a place in my extensive chukka rotation.

They certainly look a worthy addition.

I’ll pm you. I don’t think the Coniston can pass as a desert boot or Chukka unfortunately?

I think we have a couple of similar shoes so sizing should be easy to work out.

This pair of Coniston pebble grain is in what I call teal colour. They fit true to size IMO.

Chukka is loden green is classic. We don’t seem to get many shoes or boots in loden green anymore.

They are nice. The color is definitely not as vibrant (saturated) as on their website but nevertheless I am very pleased.

A very old pair that I didn't include previously: Carlos Nieto’s (Colombian brand) dark brown suede.

Cheaney dark sage chukka arrival and try on. My size was sold out but I took a gamble to size up half as price was irresistible and I love this colour. Turns out the boots fit pretty well. Surely the toe area is generous but the vamp is quite tight. My feet are not moving at all in them.

Very nice chukka boots. I was tempted with those but my size wasn't available and I know that I can't go the same route as you did with the 12508 last. Enjoy with health!

On the other hand, the colour seems a lot lighter than the product images shown on Cheaney's web page, which is very misleading as you never know what are you going to receive. That happened to me with their Jarrow Tundra suede boots which were promoted as a very nice tanned colour but in reality, they were a very light milky tone.

Indeed the actual colour is lighter than the photo on the site, which almost looked black. Before I bought I also looked at other photos on the Internet and decided the real McCoy should be lighter which is what I would prefer. But I agree that the site should provide a more accurate depiction of the colours. It's really not that hard to notice it's off if they cared to make a comparison.

my two cents for those who may be interested in Cheaney's Garforth, while the toe box is generous, the vamp is anything but. I don't have a high instep but it does not feel easy to insert my foot and you may see from the photo that the laces are wide apart. Somehow I feel that I was lucky to have sized up half a size. An interesting last.
