1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

I almost never see DBs. You get the occasional lobbyist or old-timer pol wearing them, but that's about it.

This is fantastic news for me: I'm very, very close to this new ideal since I have a drowner's physique.

Given the new emphasis on buttocks, I wonder if the single rear vent on jackets will displace double vents, as apparently the SB jacket itself has displaced the DB.

    1) Agree. And further, I think that notion fuels the overly tight fitting clothes commonly featured here on WAYWN. The Styleforumites have confused well fitting with tight. The most interesting point Mafoo ever made was in another long forgotten thread -- good bespoke is 3 dimensional. It obviates the need for form hugging clothes.

    2) Yes. At least with me. I don't like to button my jacket. I can't imagine being comfortable in DB.

    3) I have my doubts about that. It's true that the male physique is more explicitly sexualized then earlier. But, the broad shoulders, chest etc. has it's origins in classical Greece. Classic English tailoring emerged at the end of the 19th century at the same time that the English were rediscovering and celebrating Classical Greece culture. No coincidence in my opinion. I think the English tailors (and customers) were recapitulating the Greek male form in the tailoring. And, as you know, the nude male form was displayed explicitly in Greek art - the thighs genitals, etc were on display.

    4) Yes. To my eye, only the most athletic physiques look good in DBs. And, only when exceptionally well tailored.

Are you close to high school graduation weight?

Then you might be at another physiologic ideal as a grown man, regardless of your physique.

    Mathematically, it is unlikely:

Did he climb up onto his roof to take this shot?

I prefer DB over SB out of common courtesy to other men, whose women are easily distracted by my genitals.

Mediocre CBD? Not on either count.

I think that, for DB, that is pretty CBD. I would get a different square though.

    I'm so confused about CBD.

To my mind, today, DB and poofed pocket squares could never be CBD. Who would consider either to be conservative or typical of business wear?

Well you have to observe how many instances somebody has worn the combo and been universally accepted as being well-dressed. Then you can see how it is both conservative and typical of business wear. :)

    FTFY

I submit the answer would be close to none, should I follow that exercise.

Just as well that you did not attend Tech, then -- may have had some difficulty with the drownproofing graduation requirement ...

Put another way, shouldn't "CBD" be "WMWD" (what Manton would do)?

The latter suggests something far more appealing to me.

people will probably stare at you for not using the DB appropriately than you do just wearing it.
