At least in the northern hemisphere.

Does anyone else get a bit melancholy over this?

Yes.

In fact, I abhor when DST ends makes for an even more dreary winter for those of us who are up north. End DST hasn't happened yet of course, but it's still on my mind.

My ideal weather is 55 and cloudy with a bit of wind so I'm glad actually.

To me, it signals the end of one of the most miserable seasons known to mankind; the southern summer. I lost track of how many days we had this year where the temperature alone was over 90 or 95, never mind the miserable humidity. I think any season but summer is my favorite season.

No. Not at all. I considered buying an icemaker for the pool this summer, and got really tired of wringing my socks out after 7 or so miles.

Be glad you weren't in Houston this time around.

I like it when it gets light really early in the morning (5:30 or so) but prefer it gets darker by 7:00. I like eating dinner after sunset. Early dinners are uncivilized.

It's perpetually cloudy in Montreal for weeks at a time during autumn so I tend to get used to it. I will miss having sunshine at 8 PM though.

Last night being the first night I could sleep with the windows and doors open, and the air conditioning off - no, I'm pleased the days are shortening. I'm sick of 110+ every day.
