I saw The Cult last night and they kicked ass! I haven't seen a band rock like that in a long time! I miss bands like that.

There was a little drama. During the first or second song (Sweet Soul Sister - my favorite) Ian Astbury turned and yelled at someone to "turn that fucking flashlight off". I started to wonder what the show was going to be like from there. Then, just as the third song started, Ian Astbury was walking towards the mic and he started yelling about something and tossed one of his morraccas (sp) into the first row. Then he tossed his mic stand into the first row and was yelling about something.

At this point I thought he was going to do an Axl Rose. I thought he was looking for a fight or he was going to storm off the stage and that would be it. There must have been a fight in the first row and the bouncers then proceeded to beat the shit out of the people fighting? I didn't see it but that is what I could gather. I think this because later he said something about being a rock and roll show and there is no need for the bouncers to beat the shit out of the people fighting. The're at a rock and roll show! The participants should just have been seperated.

I am pretty sure that is what happened. Anyway, He was wearing blue jeans, "A Bathing Ape" t-shirt, and some creme/yellowish cowboy boots with a "doo rag" on his head. Astbury did also mention something about the latest version of men's vogue and being dissapointed. He said something about metrosexuals growing a beard and getting a life!! hahahahaha!

The drummer was John Tempesta (White Zombie, Helmet) and I forget who the bass player is. Billy Duffy was playing guitar (black jeans, black buttondown, boots).

Anyway, I loved every minute of it! I was standing in the balcony, in my middle aged glory, with my ear plugs and my hands in the air screaming for more!

    Revolution!!!

I was a big Cult fan at school, and I had no idea they were still going.

I will have to reacquaint myself with their work

This has got to be the April fools section of the post.

In any case -- the Cult rocks. Their last album, Beyond Good and Evil, was real good. Didn't know they were on tour.

Ian Astbury has been playing with The Doors / Riders on the Storm with Ray Manzarek and Robby Kreiger.

The Cult tours, doing their own material, every couple of years or so. They seem to sneak out for a month or so in limited locations. Their tour just ended after only one month. Hopefully, they will come back again soon.
