After the downfall of Chester Barrie, I understand that the company has been reformed: the name has been bought by a consortium, and the manufacturing wing is a separate company now entitled "The Cheshire Clothing Company". I've heard that the latter came into being after a management buyout, and that almost all of the Chester Barrie workers were retained, though the outfit relocated to a new site in Crewe. Has anyone seen any of the newer suits? Are they made to the same standard?

If you want to see suits made by Cheshire Clothing, go to see Turnbull and Asser. Styling is still English, and, the quality is not bad atall.

There still is a Chester Barrie shop in Savile Row. Of course there never was a man named Chester Barrie, it's a totally made up name.

I have also seen a cheaper range "Sackville by Chester Barrie" which I have only seen in outlet shops, so it might well be an export-only range. They are fused suits and not nice at all.
