Has no one answered this yet? Ok, I'll provide the answer then, if only in honour of my wife's consuming passion for The Rise and Fall of Reginald Perrin, which on its own seems to provide her with a complete philosophy for life. That's the second one; the first, of course, is The Goodies (which seems to be surfing a post-modern resurgence in reputation these days, as a neglected competitor to Monty Python, though I'm still to be convinced; but then I also think that M.Python is ageing really badly).

As a Brit, the only thing in this thread that I've really objected to is the inclusion of Benny Hill. Only Americans think of Benny Hill as quintessentially British or English.

Too true Felt. I think the fact that PBS bought a job lot of Benny Hill some years ago accounts for the fact that Americans think that we have any affection for him.
