There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Good thing is the new regular 5 series (F10) is a splendid car ... and the station wagon (F11), although not out yet, looks promising.

    + a billion

As a BMW owner I am appalled that this is a BMW.

Well, it's not the first time BMW has come out with an ugly car in recent memory:

As a BMW owner I am appalled that this is a BMW.

As a non-BMW owner (but big fan) I am as well appalled.

I can understand the reasoning of the car, but do not quite get the execution.

I see the car as BMWs response to the Mercedes R-class, but think that BMW did not learn of the mistakes of the Stuttgarters (in their own way). For the sake of slightly better rear-seat conditions and reclining seats, they created a heavy, disproportioned bodywork, with long overhangs, "fat a..s" and IMHO zero character.

Really a mistake in my opinion, but history teaches us that even the most ugly cars sell, so this will not be an exception [IMG]

The answer to a question that nobody asked. That M5 wagon looks 10x better.

I think the question was, "What can we do about the American aversion to wagons?"

I just got back from BMW store which I visited on unrelated business.
Unlike in the promo photos, up close the GT looks somewhat plainer on the outside; more so on the inside.
While the seats are perforated, the leather isn't half as supple as in a Lexus model that costs 50% less.
The 2 stage trunk is set up in a funky way where you have to almost bend down to slip stuff in.
Of course if you were to pop the trunk fully then your rear passengers would get a hit of arctic air [IMG]
BTW, once again owners report having issues with the fuel pump. ALREADY [IMG]

Why not just buy a 5-series touring wagon? Wagons are awesome.

This is the most glorious thing Ive seen all day.

Im a BMW fanboy, but the 5 series GT is superfluous and ugly in person.

It kinda ruins the GT acronym used in other car names...... Maserati GranTurismo, Nissan GT-R, etc.

It's not going to create any new BMW sales, it'll just eat into 7-series sales.
