On the contrary, it is impossible for you to look less like him, so comparatively speaking it would be easy to make you look more like him. [IMG]

Maybe, but the foo will draw pictures to prove it.

I have not purchased many a sportcoat or suit because it had that little puff. [IMG]

    MantonStyle is quite subtle.

It depends on how the jacket is made. My jackets all have shirt-set sleeves; sometimes they start out with a little 'puff', but it settles after a while.

True. But for that to be determinative, you have to assume Manton is the iGent phenomenon himself. I view him more as one of it's priests.

Manton is the form that is iGent. As Plato would say.

Weekend or quasi-formal evening out. Mid gray flannels, gunmetal grenadine tie, mink suede belt & shoes:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the first pic here has you wearing reverse facing pleats (not the other pics, just this one - or at least looks that way).

Concerning your buttons, I was just discouraging your idea of keepind the blue ones.

My issue with the patch breast pocket is not for when the BS is worn as a suit per se, really just when worn as CBD. In particular when worn with non BD shirts as exhibited in your first 2 pics. The patch pockets (really only the breast one which grabs my attention this way) pull me in one direction while your shirt pulls me in another.

Your damn mirror keeps screwing with my mind.

Orgetorix, thanks - that discussion was from before my time.

Well, a breast patch is not UCBD, but it is CBD, which is AOK in most circumstances.

Damn it, I was hoping I finally had justification for wearing my striped black odd trousers.

Wasn't David Hober just soliciting our advice on which regimentals to make? Didn't someone ask for Cal? I have Paul Smith tie with those colors--I hadn't realized 'til just now that wearing it is treachery.

Mind explaining to a fellow bear what UCBD and CBD are? THX

Copying an old AA illustration (nothing more iGent than that!). Light gray flannels, white button down, orange knit tie:

That's a very nice suit, but I'm sure you already knew that. The blue buttons look good with the different shades of gray trousers but not so good with the khaki ones. I don't know about you, but I find myself wearing mostly gray odd trousers in winter, so maybe you should keep the blue buttons.

I would guess CBD = Conservative Business Dress

and therefore UCBD = Ultra-Conservative Business Dress

I like it, but would substitute a welted breast pocket and flapped pockets for the patches (I think I only have one jacket with patch pockets, and no blazers with patches as such), along with the brownier buttons others have suggested.

This is fantasy. A breast patch is CBD AOK only insofar as no one really cares what you wear. Which is true.

Very nice Jacket! I understand the questions about the breast pockets. I would prefer the Blazer without it as well. I really envy the combination with the light grey flannel pants.

One - hopefully not blasphemic - question: The skirt seems to "open" a lot - away from the outside of your hips. I notice quite a difference in comparison with the silhouette in the AA illustration. Is this a intentional "choice" to make it more comfortable? (I did not notice this in your wonderful grey suit from the WAYWT a few weeks ago)

    Regards, Max

The skirt is opening because of the raised arm holding the camera. With normal wear, it is quite trim.
