Ideally same size b/w F last and U last to keep the ball length correct, but the toe box is very confining on U that some like to size up 1/2 (though that can lead to sloppy fit elsewhere).

This is correct. I have tried F and own U. U a half size up fits me pretty well, but is a bit loose in areas. I needed the room in the toe box.

Going up 1 size sounded a bit odd, but I was only going by what I read on the last few posts on the Vass thread. Going up 1/2 size sounds more like it although that might also lead to a sloppy fit. Overall challenging fit and inability to try some of the different Lasts on in person is one of the reasons I don't have more Vass shoes.

This certainly illustrates why those users would recommend going up a full size from the F to U Last.

    Thank you sir.

Yes, I've only got one pair of Vass on the U-last, but they're very small compared to shoes from other brands in that size (UK9/Euro 43). Unless it's an aberration, if I were to get other shoes on the U-last, I'd probably go up a full size to a 44 as they're both quite short and quite narrow in comparison to my other shoes in that size.

Nope, almost identical when placed "sole to sole". U last a hair (3/16") longer

Damn that's a good deal. I don't remember if they still do, but Campanile at one point made shoes for Canali.

    Edit: This needs photos:

Like you, I don't know any longer but can confirm that at one time they did.

As an aside, they seem to be hard to find online - they pop up here and there - but I've come across them a number of times and, like this pair, thought "damn, those look good ... and at a competitive price"; but just never pulled the trigger.

These look very good, especially for the price, even if they aren't bonafide horween shell. If they were my size and I was in the hunt, I'd definitely give them a shot.
