Want to be even more wowed? Do a search on the thrift/discount store bragging thread to find out what he paid for it!

Don't worry, I'm in the US in Florida and those sort of things don't happen within 800 miles of here. 90% of those scores are only in and around NYC, Chicago, LA, SanFran, DC, and Boston. Maybe a couple of others I'm forgetting, but that's about it.

That said, I'm not complaining. Well, maybe a little..

Just can't comprehend how a NWT 5.5K suit ends up in a thrift, tax break?

Dead wearer, spouse cleans out the closet and doesn't want to deal with everything.

What area of FL? I'm down south. I haven't even looked for thrift stores because I wouldn't know where to begin, and the mental image of what I'll find is discouraging...

Will do, but keep in mind - this is how it begins!

Bookmark your post m'friend and check back on it in 4 years. Bring your receipts and credit card balances :)

The good news is, you should be dressing a helluva lot better by then :slayer:

I'm in Orlando, right smack in the middle of the state.

Don't get me wrong, we've got our plusses. Being the #1 tourist destination means we've got some decent shopping - at least in the outlets. I've got Zegna, Etro, Cucinelli, Prada, and Ferragamo outlets within 30 minutes of me. Some of which, especially the Cooch, get great stuff and good markdowns. Plus the Millenia mall has some decent mainline stores. You've got a lot of that down your way with the Sawgrass outlets though, so I'm not telling you anything new. Plus your regional mainline stores like Neimans and Saks carry the A-line stuff (ours is a Class-C store, ugh).

But thrifting? No way, nothing but junk. I'll tell you the biggest difference is actually in the discount stores like Marshalls, TJ Max, Nordstrom Rack, etc. In the better cities you'll find RLPL trickling down to there. Here's it's total made in china poly junk or Michael Kors crapola. Actually, I think I recall your Marshalls at Sawgrass being one of the spots that got some good stuff on occasion.

Anyways, I'm well past being jealous at seeing the thrifters make out in their area. As long as they flip deals here at B&S pricing levels, I look at them as my national deal-hunting agents in the field. They deserve some vig for that :)
