Jeez 8k. I'm sure they're at a very different level, but I just paid about a third of that for one pair each of work boots, loafers, and a punch cap lace up.

All of the JLP boutiques in the US have that service except for NYC since Paul lives there. For NYC you can basically walk in and get measured right away provided Paul is at the shop. Costa Mesa, Bal Harbour, and Houston all require appointments and deposits. Once you commit to have Paul to fly out, you’re pretty much committed unless you’re willing to forgo that initial deposit.

I knew they offered a fitting service. What I didn't realize they offered it to that extent. Full on Bespoke. Pretty cool. ??
Currently not interested in their offerings, but fantastic information to pass along for those that are indeed interested.

This I’m not sure. I know last year JLP had a store in LA area and it’s in Costa Mesa. They might be moving to a new location but I haven’t really kept up with JLP recently.

Have you considered impregnating them with beeswax? Drag over the edge of a candle, or even soak in melted wax.
These laces come waxed.
Disclaimer regarding my previous post: I only purchased flat laces. Maybe if @marlinspike has round ones it could be that they are still a little stiff hence the knot getting a little loose. If that's the case I suppose it will stop after a few uses.

Even allegedly waxed laces can used a little help from time to time.

JLP is $8K!? For that, you could commission from Daniel Wegan and Roberto Uggolini while buying a nice bottle of wine. And then pocket some lunch money.

You'd have more than lunch money. Ugolini is like $2000-$2400 (as of early 2020). Wegan I think I read is about $4500. I'm sure his customers can chime in with definitive pricing.

I'd say you'd have enough for lunch, dinner, a bottle of wine, and a round trip domestic flight.

Checked his website, he used to travel to SF. His most updated prices are also available online.

Depends on the wine, my friend ;)

Several members here have experience with Nick. Dieworkwear has probably been one of his most vocal supporters here in SF.

My only experience with Nick so far is trying to arrange an initial appointment next time he travels to the US and comes to Texas.

Daniel wasn't there first round I believe, but I'm sure if there's interest he can add west coast next time in the US. I know he's just waiting for travel restrictions to lift to go back, a bunch of fittings to be done, and will be in the US regularly.
