“Largish” means a little large. By contrast Bespoke shoes I have purchased fit snugly / close to the foot.

Trying shoes under Covid conditions is a non-starter where I live. I suppose I could experiment via mail order but I’d have to deal with going to UPS more than I’d like.

The easy thing for me to do is reach out to Cleverley and order a pair. I haven’t seen a RTW pair - yet - with wide widths and the toe shape I like.

Hm, I don't think Chelseas need to fit as close to the foot as bespoke oxfords. I have a few pairs of Chelsea boots from RM Williams, Edward Green, and Blundstone. Blundstones fit like a Kleenex box, but I love those more than my RMWs and EGs. I think the silhouette looks nice and coherent with certain outfits, but I suppose it depends on the look you want to create.

Edward Green, as you probably know, has a MTO program. They can make boots on different lasts and widths.

I personally wouldn't mind a Chelsea that fits a little roomier through the foot.

If it fits, it's neither tight nor loose. What benefit can possibly be gained...for the foot or for the shoe...in it being "a little roomier?"

Got a teaser from Berluti, only the soles. I was told the fiddle back will look more pronounced from a different angle, at first I was a little underwhelmed but I like the red and the way they incorporated the rubber sole in the front. Just feel the highly polished wooden look from fukuda looks way better for 50% of the price. We will see once the borders open back up. More pics of the whole shoes once they are ready next week.

Fukuda and Berluti make different type of shoes. Ordering from one or the other should be based on style and/or location and not on price. When you are going to spend so much money on bespoke shoes you'd better go with the one you like most.

Lol thanks captain obvious, I was talking about the fiddle back and the way the sole looks and comparing one to the other. Not the entire shoe. I picked it very carefully because I love the Constance model from Berluti very much.

I don't see the point of comparing the waist of the shoe alone in order to assess its quality. It's like comparing Ferrari and Porsche and by the size of their wheels.

I’m not comparing the quality of the shoes at all I was merely comparing my first impressions and also comparing the fiddle back and beautiful sole of the fukudas vs my Berlutis. Take the price out of it (my mistake).

I saw some interesting discussion about a certain brand here. As such, I suspect I might have talked to a hacked Instagram account, a truly sober boss, or I committed some serious crime by reading StyleForum and learning about the existence of handwelted construction from @DWFII...

(Seriously, I don’t know what have I done wrong to deserve this. I asked about the pricing and last the day before, and did not have any “back-and-forth” in terms of quoting multiple models etc)
