Lobb says they are going to try to get the indentations out of the shell cordovan with water or some kind of spirit if water doesn't work. If they can't get them out they will remake them. I might just push them to remake them anyway because of how sloppily they were put together and for missing key features that I specified.

Wasn’t one of the Lobb brothers saying on a Kirby Allison video how every pair of shoes goes through their inspection? Seems like a pretty obvious miss.
I met with William Lobb on Saturday and he said he didn't look at them before they went out but that he would make sure he inspects them before they are sent back to me.

I was sent pictures of the uppers before hand though and I called this out. I was told by another employee over email that the indentations would be removed in the blocking process

Seems like Dominic, Daniel Wegan, and Nick T are full of orders now since they stopped doing trunkshows or at least stopped advertising them on IG.

Unfortunate for those who were planning some orders, it's a sign though that there are still enough people able to appreciate great style and high craftsmanship.

They don't advertise trunk shows, but still get new customers on many of them. If one reach out and are willing to wait a while, you can still order.

Asked Nicholas questions about my order (still on track for delivery this year) and a potential new order, he said he's still planning visits to the US and no mentions of stopping to take in new orders.

Still unsure if I'll order a new pair this year or wait to wear the first pair for a few months before ordering the second.

I would wait and evaluate the first pair before.

You can order and prepay now and wait for the first pair to be completed before starting the 2nd but it's usually best practice to wait for the first pair to finish before ordering a 2nd.

Not a fan of this odd style, would stick with a classic punched cap Oxford in box calf instead.

Part of my thought process is 1) I've only ever seen Maftei do this, and I like the idea of it being a shoe that is uniquely his, and 2) the black pair I already own is a whole cut with a punched "cap" in box calf. I need a more casual way to wear black shoes (for when I'm wearing gray slacks but not a full suit), hence my thinking black hatch grain.
