It happened to me at age 70, over a period of about 4 months, going from wearing a 9.5 EEE to unable to fit into them at all. I have been trying to find a bespoke shoemaker in the Southeast, but no such luck. When does this age/footsize thing start to happen by the way…
Wow, that’s fast.It happened to me at age 70, over a period of about 4 months, going from wearing a 9.5 EEE to unable to fit into them at all. I have been trying to find a bespoke shoemaker in the Southeast, but no such luck.
What was his timeline for delivery? Did he just require deposit or full payment up front? If I end up going down this rabbit hole, I'd probably look to him first if only cause I end up in Japan annually and I like his sort of Alden vibe but made to a much higher finish standard.Wow, that’s fast.
I ordered a pair of MTM derbies from Seiji McCarthy early this year and he mentioned this phenomenon. I believe he leaves a bit of extra length at the toes to give his shoes extra life.
He said 1 year from the initial fitting to final delivery (no in-between fittings for MTM), with 50% of payment upfront and the remaining when he's finishing the shoes and about to ship. What was his timeline for delivery? I can't wait until he announces. He said 1 year from the initial fitting to final delivery (no in-between fittings for MTM), with 50% of payment upfront and the remaining when he's finishing the shoes and about to ship.
I don't travel frequently to Japan, although I'm planning on visiting every 2 years of so. But I liked his MTM format. I'm sure if I need anything tweaked he can adjust it, as he keeps a last for each customer (both MTM and bespoke). I can't compare to other makers as this was my first shoe comission, but the measuring process seemed very detailed.
I love his designs and dealing with him was very pleasant, super nice guy. The lack of language barrier is a plus. And he is planning trunkshows to the US but I believe no set dates yet.
My issue is width across the arch. It is almost as wide as the toe box, but no shoe I have seen is that wide at that place, especially I a 9.5.Wow, that’s fast.
