Tom Ford vs The World

This thread is interesting not so much for the original question posted – should you buy Tom Ford at retail? – as for the discussion that followed on the merits of ready to wear vs. bespoke. What do you think: are the upper echelons of RTW worse the price tags, which often exceed bespoke? Is there a value to a particular ‘style,’ or is bespoke always a better product then say, an Oxxford suit?

Mod

StyleForum has a lot of diverse, and inevitably fascinating, niche communities. Perhaps the most vibrant, and the most isolated, is the mod/suedehead community – they stick to one thread, but they have a fascinating wealth of knowledge (most of it first hand) on a fashion movement that lasted only a few years in England decades ago. Great stuff.
