I think it's because some people like clothes? I've heard there are forums for such people.
all dressed up with nowhere to go......

Serious question: y'all feel OK spending lots of money on clothes to literally wear at home and take selfies? Is the enjoyment still there?

I still attend many video calls a day and feel I need to look professional. I also don't anticipate working from home forever. It's a good time to support some good small businesses (like the Armoury) and the many artisans they work with, too.
appreciate your reply.

I think the understanding of the pandemic is implied (or even made explicit) and there's less pressure to dress or look a certain way even if on video. But obviously there's no penalty for still wanting to go all out =)

Some of us have important enough jobs where we still have to go into an office.

I think so.

for a lot of people on fora such as this, #menswear is also a hobby; so there is more to it than just utility.

for some reason being into clothing as a hobby (outside the context of being in the fashion industry) isn’t really as accepted as say say woodworking, drones, cosplay, video games, star wars, etc.

there is often the need to ‘justify’ purchases, even though it’s the same as any other hobby.

sorry to hear that.

I was referring to people who buy expensive stuff and still get dressed as if they are commuting and interacting with the outside world only to sit at home and work due to the pandemic, such as the fellow who posted a pic up earlier in the thread.

I don't know if you realize this, but you're in an affiliate thread. Going into a thread and discouraging people from posting fit pics or shopping is like going into a small business and telling people to stop buying. Perhaps take this discussion elsewhere?

I’m aware.....I merely asked a question, didn’t discourage anyone from anything.

Dressing up, even when working at home, helps some people stay productive since it keeps them in a routine. I have some friends who stopped dressing up for work when they started working from home and they devolved for the first couple of months. They also mentally checked out from work for a bit. When they started at least putting in some effort into dressing it helped them get back into the flow of things.

The part of wearing clothes I enjoy most is wearing clothes. I enjoy wearing Shetland sweaters, for instance, because I enjoy putting them on and wearing them. I like the textures, the colors, the way they feel when worn, and the way they feel autumnal and cozy. I like wearing clothes, the way many others enjoy eating food. It's mainly about my enjoyment. Of course, part of that enjoyment is contextual--I wouldn't enjoy wearing a tuxedo to go to Walmart--but the same could be said for food: hot dogs are more enjoyable at a ballpark, a hot stew is more enjoyable in the winter, fancy food is more enjoyable at a wedding than sitting in PJs at home. There are other parts of wearing clothes I enjoy too, but it doesn't have to be about looking good for others, or taking selfies.

Does anyone else think the spread-collar Armoury/Ascot Chang polos (which are otherwise terrific) should have a deeper placket, perhaps by adding a button? I prefer the collars on the spreads but the plackets on the button-downs.
