On all of my non Armoury jackets I have four. I noticed the Armoury put three on the five jackets I got from them. Realized I really don’t care one way or the other. Although it did look weird at first. Don’t think I can ever do two buttons. One maybe.

I went for 3 on my Armoury SC, buttons supplied felt a bit small to go with 1 personally.

For sport coats, I do one, two, or three buttons. For suits, I do four buttons.

I believe it's a regional thing. The older tailors on Savile Row do four buttons by default.

In Naples, tailors will generally reserve four buttons for suit and then do three for sport coats.

Two buttons is an old Ivy Style detail.

One button is generally reserved for very sporty jackets. I've seen the detail in old Apparel Arts illustrations. I've also seen both Savile Row and Neapolitan tailors do one button. The one-button cuff is generally reserved for sporty, countryside sport coats. I like it on big, bold patterns. The cuff button is also generally the same size as the front buttons.

Four buttons looks a little more formal to me, so I reserve it for suits. I like doing one, two, or three buttons on sport coats just for fun. The configuration also looks more casual to me.

Thanks! I'll ask about it in the HK store later when I visit.

On an unrelated note, does The Armoury HK store still stock Carlo Riva fabric for sale?
The Amoury has removed the belt loops for me and replaced them with side adjusters. I believe there was a fee.

I am not exactly sure what to make of the new lookbook, but--as is the case with many things at the Armoury that are a bit different than what you see elsewhere--I certainly admire the effort.

The new Alden makeup looks nice and pretty versatile and the new shearling coat looks neat. I always like it when the Armoury tries new things because not many shops do develop new products themselves and very few put as much thought into their products.
