I had ordered from the Armoury before but had never been to the NYC store until two days ago.

It took a bit longer to get there than I had hoped so I arrived 1/2 hour before closing. The three gentlemen working there told me to take my time and offered me a bit of whiskey which I accepted. I spoke to them at length about some projects that I had in mind. And we spoke about many other issues (the Englishman recognized my Boca Juniors bracelet so we spoke futbol and travelling for a while).

As most of the items I was interested in were projects that require orders with the artisans themselves, I was not going to buy anything. And there was zero pressure to do so even though it was after closing time. I, ultimately, bought a pair of Thurston braces as they caught my eye while looking at bags.

I write not so much because my experience was noteworthy but to express the diametrically opposite experience as another forum member. The shopping experience was great and have not and will not hesitate to recommend them again to friends.

My judgement of this story hinges entirely on one question: what kind of whiskey?

I went there the first time in mid December 2018. I got there right before they closed on a Sunday and wasn’t offered any whiskey. I chatted a little bit with one of the SA’s and looked around the store. I ended up buying a green Drake’s of London tie.

Next time I go back I’m going to demand some whiskey!

I would say the store location isn't exactly central, slightly off path (probably reason why I haven't been there in quite some time)...

I’m don’t know much about whiskeys so I couldn’t even offer a guess. But it hit the spot as I warmed up before taking my visiting Neapolitan tailors (first time visit for one) to a quintessentially NYC restaurant: Katz Deli. They loved it.

yea, it's definitely on the "off" part by NYC typical retail standard, harder to reach for sure...
