was at Fallingwaters today, never ceases to amaze
recently saw a documentary on the restoration of the floors/structural elements using tensioning cables
the driving roads to get to it are amazing, bonus
always thought this was cool
I was wondering if I could get some help from some architects or students of architecture...
I'm planning on getting my girlfriend (a grad student in architecture) a gift from Japan when I go there in a couple weeks time. I want to get her a tool that she can use in her field and also will last her for a very long time. I understand that the pen/fine marker and sketchbook are probably the most important tools for an architect so I was wondering if there were any specific brands known for their quality/craftsmanship that I could purchase in Japan or are exclusive to Japan?
The most important tool for Japanese architects is the can of white spray paint.
I've read it in print and I recall it being 'tossed' around the office. I'm thinking it was Hugh (Hardy) and Malcolm (Holzman). And I'm recalling it being a men's room in the NYC Subway.
HHPA was actually an enjoyable place to work in the late 70s and early 80s. The staff was fantastic. That said, I don't really miss it.

At first I was like yuck, but the inside and the view is amazing!
I like that.
Beg to disagree, it's an order form for bronze coloured anodized aluminium.
