GF delivered her verdict on the Broad museum. Not impressed.

Herzog & de Meuron's Roche tower in Basel has been watered-down "redesigned" from this: [IMG] to this: [IMG] They've had a terrible last two years with the economic downturn.

the redesign looks like something any no-name Japanese firm would do. Not that the original "cork-screw with pants boner" was much to look at either.

The "redesign" looks horrible. It reminds me of the Lufthansa building in Cologne, which is actually set to get a major overhaul.

A History of Starchitect Box Stacking.... Herzog & de Meuron decided to stack some fucking houses in Switzerland. [IMG] And that worked great, so they were like "Instead of stacking houses, let's stack some fucking condos," so they took their idea to Leonard Street in NYC, but NYC was like "We don't stack fucking boxes here." [IMG] So Herzog & de Meuron are like "Fine. We'll take our stacked boxes to Lebanon instead." [IMG] But OMA came along and said "If they won't stack your boxes in NYC, maybe they'll stack our boxes." [IMG] But NYC is like "No. We don't stack ANYONE's boxes." So OMA got upset because they just want to find a place that will let them stack some motherfucking boxes. Will Rotterdam let them stack boxes? No. [IMG] Will Louisville let them stack boxes? No. [IMG] Are you sure, Rotterdam ? Yes. [IMG] Singapore? No. [IMG] Jersey City? No. [IMG] New York again? SRSLY. No. [IMG] St. Petersburg? No. [IMG] Hamburg? Nein. [IMG] Singapore? Wait. Fuck. We already tried there too. No. [IMG] So Rem got depressed and turned to his friend Steven Holl and said "Steven, where can I stack some motherfucking boxes?" And Steven is like... "Well, you can't stack stuff in Belgium [IMG] or Copenhagen [IMG] so we tried again in Scotland, and they said no..... [IMG] but if you REALLY want to stack some boxes on top of each other, go to China. You can stack as much shit on top of each other as you want there." [IMG] So Rem is like "Nice. I'll go stack some fucking boxes in China." [IMG] And China is like "Okay. We weally wike stack box wery much." [IMG] So then China finally stacked his boxes. And Rem was happy. [IMG]

I would shit my pants on a daily basis if I lived in a building like this. I don't care how architecturally sound the engineering is.

Is the top floor entirely displaced from the foundations? That has got to creep people out.

Ourousoff sounds like a jackass going on about "connecting to the Latino community," not to mention implying that Grand is somehow meant to be a "single, dominant, cultural hub."
