Space for laying out the plastic sheeting and hefty bags I would guess.

It comes in handy if you have to give one of your guests a timeout.

I think the kitchen layout is kind of blah in general. It's bit cluttered.I like everything in the kitchen below the counter. Not a fan of overhead cabinetry in most cases.

One of our best design decisions was to avoid it.

I had an ambitious plan for our kitchen which had no overhead cabinets, but I was unable to get my wife to go for it. I still harbor a plan to redo it my way eventually...

I hate 95% of modern kitchens. They always seem to be a mess of all these disparate geometries, in part because the different components and appliances are so oddly shaped with contrasting materials, and in part because people have a tendency to jam kitchens into these irregularly shaped spaces that remain after they've configured the plan around the placement of their big as shit television. When they're attached to a living room area, it makes more sense from my standpoint to design the kitchen first to maintain some sort of clarity and order with the geometry, and then allow the living room to play off it because its relative simplicity suits irregularity a bit better. My ideal kitchen would be a continuous counter that extends along the entirety of a wall with a glazed backsplash and continuous overhead skylight. I hate those counters that just abruptly stop at some random place along a wall.

People are idiots and kitchen firms hire people who can't tell their face from their ass, to sell their shit, so the results can't be better than the person who designed it.

Have a cry you bunch of fucking whinges.
Who are you to lay down the 10 commandments of kitchen design, holier than thous assholes.

A kitchen should be the most important and most used room in the home, it should be exactly what the homeowner wants.

Were you not the guy who in the other thread noted how everyone should update their appliances regularly to "get with the fucking program"?

This sounds interesting. I do not need a TV in the kitchen because I dont like being distracted when using sharp objects and fire.
