I will mock you relentlessly when you end up buying an Apple Watch, mouse.

I'm not buying an Apple Watch until I realize I have to.

I'm not sold on it yet, that doesn't mean I won't be in the future. Apple just needs to prove to me I need it. They haven't yet.

I'll be more interested when it looks closer to the one on the right a few years from now.

I'm curious how many of the $5k+ solid gold models they will actually sell.

What exactly is the watch supposed to do? I thought they had pretty limited capability and you needed to be near your phone.

I think the idea is that it's a proxy for the giant phone in your pocket/bag so you can do things without needing to get the phone out. In a meeting, for example, you can get notifications etc on the sly without causing a disruption. Use it for alerts rather than setting an alarm...that kind of thing.

I do a lot of stuff outside and could see something like this eventually coming in handy when I'm working in the yard, riding the bike, walking the dogs, etc. but I'm not sold on the size or price as of yet.

I believe it has limited storage on it so you could likely use it as a media player without the phone when running or whatever. It will also have the biometric features for HRM capabilities.

It has a ton of potential and hopefully can crawl out from the shadow of snark that's currently smothering it.

Two main issues for me is range and battery life. IIRC in order for a lot of the functions to work (ie notifications) the watch has to be pretty close to your phone, as in having the phone in your pocket. In which case I can just take it out.

And the more "things" you can do with the watch just means the battery will run out faster. If it can get 5-7 days between charges like the Fitbit and other wearables then that's not too bad but I have a feeling it'll be closer to 2-3 days.
