Apparently fucking google killed support for exchange email setup with push notifications.

Now I can't use gmail on my iphone's stock mail app and I have to use the gmail app to get emails pushed to me, and the gmail app fucking sucks.

    :fu:

Are you sure? I use gmail as my iphone's stock email and get the push notifications. Which phone do you have?

    100% positive.

My last phone was an iPhone 5 that I had activated in September of 2012; Google announced that they would discontinue allowing people to use their Exchange network for push notifications as of January 2013.

Those who had activated their phones prior to that date are grandfathered in, which is why it still worked on my old 5. The problem is when people upgrade or change phones, they lose that grandfathered status and can't rely on iOS's stock mail app anymore.

The grandfathered status follows the physical device, and not the account, which sucks.

There's a workaround where you use iCloud and have your gmail messages forwarded to that email, but I don't like that solution.

I recently had to rely on Siri for a couple days. It sucks. Broken is the best word I have for it. People gave Apple shit for the Maps app when it first launched, but at least it works now. Siri still fails far to often. They either need to fix it or scrap the project.

I've been on the phone with Apple tech support for the past 1 hour and 30 minutes configuring iCloud, iTunes Match, my iPhone and iPad.

    ....

It's a real clusterfuck of a situation right now with all my apple devices.

As for Siri, I don't really use it all that much; only to set up reminders and shit and I've never really had any problems. I just wish there was a hands-free option of speaking to it a la the Moto X so I don't have to constantly press down the home button.

You like dat touch ID brah?

I'm not really sure if it gets more accurate over time because sometimes it works flawlessly consecutively, other times it won't recognize my print. Strange.

    Isn't Maps still totally useless?

Have you used it recently? They have made some great improvements. It's a solid enough app now.

Siri scolded my father for cursing. Specifically, he was toying around with the phone while driving (he's a champion for safe stuff like that) and acidentally dropped his phone in a way that activated Siri. Dropping his phone while driving naturally makes him get all "oh god damn this god damn phone" and Siri took exception.

It still has to outsource for directions, right?

If you mean that Apple is using some 3rd party map data, I believe so.

Oh sorry, I meant to say if you want transit directions. Doesn't matter to everyone, matters a lot to any city dweller.
